Oh Pariah!

My mind has been racing lately. So many ideas, not enough (read: NO) time to follow through with any of them. Music, business, creating, sewing, traveling, planning, decision making. A friend over at 283 has this to say:

...ultimately, isn't fear the most immediate yet overlooked obstacle to living the way we should? I came to the realization this morning that fear has become not only a hindrance, but a safehouse, a comfort for me. I fill every spare moment I have with work, fearing that free time will lead me to the daunting task of thinking about and making decisions about the direction of my future. At the same time, I am using this lack of free time as an excuse for why I have been unable to nurture any of the prospective seedlings that are bursting through my frontal lobes. In all my pragmatism, this cycle is completely illogical, and I recognize it as such, which makes me want to shout even louder, "FUCK YOU FEAR".

But please, don't be afraid of this:

1)Pistachio Apricot Hummus

1 clove garlic
1/2 cup pistachios
8 dried apricots
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp corriander
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup tahini
1/4 cup olive oil
1 can chickpeas


Process garlic first, add pistachios and process in a blender. Add the water while the pistachios are processing, then add chickpeas, and blend some more. Lastly, add all the other ingredients. Yum Yum Yum. Enjoy!

Tales and Tails and Tiles

I have a prospective photography project in mind, and can't wait to get started. Though the project idea is not related to the following shots, I enjoy what is implied beyond their overt simplicity.

Martha Stewart (minus the handcuffs)

I made a couple of picture frames out of rolled up magazine pages after seeing something similar at UO last weekend. They turned out okay and are kind of fun to make because you never can tell how a single magazine page will look when rolled up into a tube. May attempt to make ones with all the tubes the same solid colour, or out of patterned paper. G...E...E...K.

Also, I really must improve upon my cooking skills. Since I don't eat meat myself and haven't since I was 12, I have had no logical reason to learn how to cook the stuff (fish I am okay with since I started eating it a couple years ago while in Australia). It may be nice if I were able to cook something other than salads, steamed veggies and tilapia, even if it is for someone else other than myself. Not that I am looking to be Suzy Homemaker here, but it would be great to treat my family or boyfriend to a decent meal from time to time. Anyways, I wonder if there are some community cooking classes I can take that are très cheap around here. This item will be on the To Do list for tomorrow.
